Thousands of "placards" similar to this one were placed in brand-new B-25s. This one was in 41-13161, a B-25D upon which Bob Dethelefsen flew every one of his combat missions.

This is a picture of an oil painting of aircraft 41-13161.   The original, done by an Army Air Corps combat artist who actually flew on a mission, hung in the 490th's Officer's club until the club was destroyed by fire.

When not flying missions or performing other duties, Bob Dethelefsen 'went to the movies.'   This is a scan of the front of a program for the Imperial Theatre in the Aggra Cantonment, India.

The backside of the program presents the schedule and stars of future attractions.
editor's note: Seems to be a hint of 'aerial-war' theme here, wonder why?   <grin>

If the " routing marks" on this letter to Bob are any indication of how difficult it was to get mail, no wonder he went to the movies. Didn't they see the "airmail stamps"?.

Even important personal mail went around the world to reach Bob!
