"Preserving the memory of their sacrifices!"
New Malir, India
In January 1942, 'Malir Field' was a British aerodrome near Karachi, India. It had built as a last line of defense for India. It soon became a primary staging, training and processing aea for U.S. Army Air Forces personnel and aircraft entering the China-Burma-India theater of war. Among it's facilities was a dirigible hangar, which became a workshop for assembly of American aircraft.
The base had a 6,000 foot long paved runway with five miles of gravel overrun.
Not all of the photos were annotated, so we did the best we could.
